About the Artist
Ariana’s paintings revolve around wildlife, usually featuring animal portraiture. Through her artwork, Ariana seeks to explore the archetypal, symbolic powers of nature and how humans relate to these energies. Her work often features ethereal and magical elements, offering an uplifting image of the world as interconnected, powerful, and wholesome. Ariana feels a deep kinship with the essences of animals, plants, and land, and sees these as medicines that have the capacity to house and heal the human heart. Her mixed media paintings blend the realms of conservation and visionary art, and her style can best be categorized as abstracted-realism. Ariana is an emerging self-taught artist based on Vancouver Island.
Ariana has always been an artist. Since she was a small child, she loved to paint and draw, and was fascinated by the magical stories that could be created with images. Art remained a hobby throughout her childhood and adolescence, until her final semester of high school, when she decided last-minute to take an art class as an elective. This choice turned out to be transformational in her artistic journey, and from there, her passion for art grew.
"Animals themselves are art, in that they reflect our own humanity back to us, and yet remind us that we are so much more than human. That is the aim of the creative pursuit."
